I think all model aircraft, whatever scale, require pilots. I usually work at smaller scales but the exaggerated features required at small scale work in our favour when printing with larger nozzles, coarse layer heights and lightweight filaments to reduce weight for 1/7 or 1/12 scale pilots.
I was surprised when Joel managed to print a 1/7 scale pilot that weighed less than 40 grams in lightweight PLA.
I have a couple of figures that could work at 1/7 or 1/12 scale I have uploaded. One is just for fun and is appropriate for a US Marine AV-8B and the other is based on the 1/24 scale Harrier GR1 pilot figure.
